Some TV shows

I like some of the soaps coming in Zee cafe. One of them is Make it or break it, which is a story about 4 teenage athletes striving to enter Olympics. Well the story is about the difficulties they face and how they overcome it. When I saw it last, Emily, one girl who is not having rich parents, who is not even continuing her school as she can not afford it, who in fact is supporting her family, comes to know that she is pregnant. She leaves the town, her dream to go to her godmother to give birth her child. I felt terribly sad. Success is not possible for those who do not have fat purses? Then this world is a cruel place.
   The middle is one comedy serial about middle aged parents, trying to bring up their not so talented three children. The youngest kid in second grade is so smart that he will always be in the library. The librarian is upset about him because he does not read silly fairy tales but reads serious books. The daughter has no ambitions what so ever and accepted her plainness so much so that mother feels pity for her.
   18 to life is about teen age kids who get married at 18 and their parents. Their parents always bicker which each other. Many a times the kids will have to bring the parents to their senses.
   Raising hope in Star world is again about a teenager who becomes a father and has to raise the daughter because mother is dead. The boy has parents who themselves so immature. And they have hand to mouth existence. Maw Maw who is the grand mother of boy is deranged. The boy feels really happy when he gets the job of bagging in a super market. It is really sad when the parents set the standard so low for the child.

Hair care and me ??

I delayed writing this post for I was not sure whether I am entitled to write this post. If I put my photo along, I should also add that I do not use Dove shampoo, so that it will serve as a warning to people , if they don't use a proper shampoo, their hair might also look like mine :-( :-( :-( Things (on my head) were not this bad always. I had long black and reasonably thick hair, nicely plaited, when I was a child. In fact I would be sitting on my plaits - they were so long. And to top it all, one of relatives used to say " you say you will be taller and your hair will say it will be longer" or something like that. (Now I have ended up 5.2 ft  and my hair also short sob....) Back then, how did I nourish my hair?I did not do much in fact. But mere paas maa thi. She would religiously oil my hair - everyday. We Hegdes from Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga districts of Karnataka belong to a brahmin sub sect called Havyaka Brahmins. We have some traditions of our own, a language of our own - which is slightly different from kannada. But I am not an authority on the subject, nor have I read any book on comparative analysis of Karnataka brahmin traditions.
