Election circus

Let us just remember what names will these people call each other for providing entertainment to the public. And let us remind these names   when they form an un-holy alliance to form the government. Some more entertaining news in this front are Election commission officials caught former UP chief minister Mayawati carrying 1 lakh rupees as she landed in Gulbarga. But she asked whether they would have checked Sonia Gandhi or Sushma Swaraj. They are of course discriminating against a dalit. Of course, the oppressed classes need reservation and concession in everything. In Karwar, the ever canny candidates sent Biryani, gift wrapped, to the houses instead of money. Smart move! Modi says that 2G scam money if written will go from 7, race course road to 10 Janpath marg.  BJP government in Karnataka created world record in corruption says Rahul Gandhi What can we say? Best reality show ever!!

The song from "Sapnay" goes as Chanda re chanda re kabhi to zameen par aa Baithenge baatein karenge Tujhko aate idhar laaj aaye agar Odh ke aaja tu baadal ghane

How to increase your money 50 times in 5 years

Poverty? Inflation? Who is telling you all this? In fact, Indians are getting richer day by day. At least some Indians are? According to today's newspaper, Karnataka MLAs' assets have increased many fold some times as high as by 5000%. Why am I telling you all this? Do you want to become richer, without working hard? Stand for an election and win a seat. But  initially you may have to convince people that you care for them. This is easy. Follow the path of other aspiring member of LA. Distribute sarees, panches, liquor and hard cash freely among people.

ಈಗ ಅದೆಲ್ಲ old school. Cliches aside, I saw in today's newspaper that chief election officer has stated that taking money for vote is an offense. But what about buying vote? Is it not an offense?   We citizens will supply them with names of candidates who are giving money. Will the honorable government  punish the politicians who are giving money for their votes? Or will the election commission cancel their candidature for this election?

My Bharatha - Bheeshma

I tried searching for inspiration using stumbleupon , but not closing blogger window. That is real optimism. But inspiration does not work that way. OK. Let me post some thing from my old note book.

Blessed existence

Man sitting under fly over, surrounded by filth Unmindful he eats Mango Heat, stink, screeching vehicles Nothing bothers him Blessed are these people  Children, Mad people and saints Who live life by their own rules

Ask questions. Always

One more bomb blast in Bangalore. Luckily there were no casualties. When will this mindless terrorism stop? Why are terrorists born? They are born because, they are taught to love and believe whatever their leaders tell them without thinking, without asking questions. They are taught to hate "other" people. They are taught that if they die protecting their religion they die a martyr's death and very nice things wait for them in the other world. So I feel in order to curb this menace, we need to find these leaders and ask them some questions. Or better still, we should prepare our youth to ask these questions. Disciple : Sir is it true that our God has created this world. Is it true? Leader : Yes, of course. He has created this world and also all the living creatures in them. Di :So our God has created all human beings. Is it? Le : Yes. Certainly. Di : Including people of that other religion? Le : Yes. He has created every living thing in this world, all birds, a

Easier option

Dear fellow mature women, What do you find better and easier? Buying different anti-aging, anti-wrinkle, revitalizing, regenerating skin cream knowing too well that none of these  work against kaal (time), but hoping they do. You can not just defy age. or Learning photoshop. (which certainly works) I always vote for the latter.

Above average by Amitabha Bagchi

Julie's father chides her "Why do bloggers think their life is so important that people would like to read about it" in Packed to the Rafters. I felt the same thing after reading the book. Initial part of the book was good. The tension of 12th exam, preparations for JEE, and a life revolving around that one entrance exam. OK, I thought after this the story will start. No, it did not. In fact it is like a diary of boy studying IIT. A good writing style is nice (in fact after a long time, I finished a book in less than a week) , but a novel must have a story. OK, we get to see a intellectual professor getting disillusioned and flying back to US of A, a drug addict musician not able to make a living as the habit is not letting him fulfill his passion, and a child of an abused woman being ill treated by grand father etc. But these are all side clips. Where is the main story? What does Arindham Chatterjee do other than his IIT? There is this reference to a girl Aparna who w
One whole day and a half of no coding. Terrible, dear. Don't you want to be the next Jobs?  Yesterday was busy day. Told it again in another language. So no coding. Anyway as it was yugadi I did not code. Funny, if you think about it. Why is it yugadi? Why not varshadi, samvatsaradi? Yugadi is in fact begining of a new year not a new era. Were our ancestor trying to tell us that treat each new year as a new era, new lifetime, let go of the past, move on with your life?  Anyways I do not see much change in Vijaya samvatsara. Because I am not willing to look?

Shambho tavaradhanam

You say:  "yadyad karmam karomi tattadakhilam shambho tavaaraadhanam" You mean: See, today I have some urgent work to do. Lot of well.. mundane works to do. See we mortals need to do these, no matter how trivial these are. So I can not spare any time for praying to you. Hope you understand. Hey, don't sulk. Tomorrow, I promise I will chant 2 or 3 extra shlokas. This line is from "Shiva manas puja" by Adi Shankaracharya. Meaning of this line is any work I am doing is a salutation to you.

April 10th is tomorrow!!

After few days of blogging , Julie Rafter gets an offer for writing a weekly column in a newspaper. What about me? Where are the people who will call me and offer me such a job? Anyway silver lining in the cloud was  I wrote two entries in my c blog about inheritance. By the way, Julie Rafter is not my neighbor, but one of the Rafters in TV serial "Packed to the rafters", which   is good family drama. And the title of the post? Don't worry I am not here to create one more scare like 2012. And  I  also know that my  readers never really believed all that crap written about destruction of universe in that year. April 10th was not really a scare even in childhood. It was a happy day. We would prepare to give a shock to our parents by saying " appa, amma, napasu" , (na - I pasu - passed . But napas is fail). But there were no celebrations either. It was known fact that I would pass and I would also stand first to class. So what is so great in that. And we w

Life time of inertia

Moment of inertia? Wrong. Wrong physics. It is a lifetime  of inertia. At least for people like me. Don't ask me if so inertiatic, what am I doing at 2 am. A tired mind and body are a happy mind. A mind which was busy procrastinating things and then cancelling them whole day, will repent these in the night. And, insomnia! And blogging is almost as idle as TV watching. Plus  I get to gloat over my creation and how I have succeeded to turn, twist, grind to pieces and make a chutney of the phoreen language.

Apologetic netas and netis

In the earlier post   I had written how our leaders always talk about others. Others as in other political parties. But if they talk about themselves or their mode (should we say model) of government, they sound apologetic (should we say pathetic?) Few days back a ruler of a certain state told that she is afraid to send her own daughter out after dark. Kya kare, hamara sarkar itna nikamma hai - she did not add this. And there is another chief minister who said he is worried about law and order situation in his state. So are all of us. But we can not do anything about it. Can't you? Now after a building collapse which killed 56 innocent people, the chief minister concerned  states that 90% of the building in that area are either illegal or irregular. Again, manya mantrijee, aap iske liye kya kar rahe hain?

Nostalgia

It is a funny thing. Never can one understand what makes one nostalgic and why. Yesterday I was sitting outside the house - a small effort to save electricity - where I need not switch on fan. There was a smoke coming from one of the laborer's shed near by.  The evening time and smoke from the fire wood stove brought back childhood memories. One does not exactly think all these things. One just feels nostalgic. Many many years ago, me and my son who was then 3 years were waiting for his school bus in the basement   of our building. Suddenly there was a cool breeze. Which was a not a very common thing in desert town Muscat. And son told "Amma, it looks like Hasargod". Which happens to be husband's place. 3 year old Pradyoth, had hardly spent 2 days at a time in that place. But still he felt nostalgic.

Attack is the best..

Attack is the best  only method of defense. The new mantra of major Indian political parties. An interview between a Indian politician and a media person will go like this. Any politician and any media person! You are corrupt     They are also corrupt. You are inefficient.     They are so bad in governing. What are the changes you plan to bring in common man's life if elected to power?      That party is so corrupt. People have completely lost faith in that party. They know we are just, we always want best of things for them. They will vote us to power. But you did not answer my question.      You are not listening. You media people and so called elites are always finding fault with us. But common people love our party. They have always supported our party and always will.

My Bharatha - Suyodhana

I feel my head is going to split into thousand pieces. Should share my woes with someone. But with whom? My best friend is dead. So is dear brother Dushasan. And great grand father. Of course I can't share my feelings with parents. One is blind both inside and outside. And the other is though can see through see things, completely helpless. When did things start falling apart? Where did I go wrong? Or when did I start going wrong and doing wrong without any remorse? Since I was this little, I remember grand father Bheeshma's words. Little Suyodhan, don't hurt your cousins. Poor little things. Poor Little things indeed. I could see Bheem's fists behind Bheeshma. And Arjun would not be rude, but braggart. If there is any incident, everyone would reproach me. No one believed that little Bheem can be equally quarrelsome and was liberal with his blows. I would get so angry, in order to prove them right, I would just try to hit Nakul or Sahadev. Everyone praised the po
