Perpetually Perplexed

Our much discussed Kanhaiya told that he wants azadi not from the country but in the country. I want to add to it. We all want azadi in the country to think. Not just agree. If you have not yet read his complete speech, do read it. It is really good without being inciting.

 I feel our neighboring country will become richer because we want to send our pseudo-intellectuals there, pseudo writers there and even pseudo actors  and  now students to that country.  :) (I even want to add tearful emoji in previous para but don't know how. ) May be these people will be safer there.

You have read what happened to Tanzanian student in Bangalore. How would you feel if such attacks happen to our children in other countries. What is more cruel is the public behavior. When the girl tried to escape from attackers and board a bus, the passengers pushed her back. And no one came to her rescue except for 3 locals and an Iranian. Are Bangaloreans so cruel, so racist and sheep? Image of our city is not improved by some cliches told here and abroad and trying to show a shiny city to global investors meet. It is improved by stopping such atrocious things from happening.

Columnist Jug Suraiya writes in Times of India that Congress policy is not exactly pro-poor, but rather it is pro-poverty.How else do you explain the fact that the party could not eradicate poverty even after ruling the country for almost seventy years? And let us not single out Congress party. Each and every party will produce some populist scheme or the other at election time, just for the sake of votes. Free electricity, free TV. I think you have read about Akhilesh's free laptops getting spoilt in a godown as he isn't getting time to distribute them. Do you expect people to work, if they get rice at Re 1/kg? Some one should remind these people the proverb "Give a fish to a man, he will eat one day. Teach him fishing, he will eat his entire life"

Our leaders are fighting a ferocious battle. Not against the merciless murderers who killed the IPS officer Narendra Kumar. Not against the goons who are punishing the people who have not voted for them. Not against the lawyers who have hurled stones and bricks to media men and police and injured 87 people. Not against illiteracy, poverty, malnutrition. But against other leaders who are trying to snatch their gaddi. Again a curious fact here, if a Narendra Kumar is crushed by tractor, how or why could not he escape from it as it moves really slow?

In a democracy, every one is equal, but some are more equal. We have a law minister who does not care about model code of conduct during election time. We also have a woman and child welfare minister who watches porn in the  assembly when the session is going on. And they go scot-free. They are telling us we are here to make laws, not to observe them.

When I pester my husband to buy me something very expensive he retorts " You have your savings, why don't you buy with your own money"? Yes, why can't our sarakara tell the same thing to legislators. If they want ipad. ipad, iphone or mac or even a super computer, why don't they buy these things with their own money? Why should tax payers' money go for their gadgets? Yesterday was eventful. And I am not talking about me fighting with spouse. Our cm has finally agreed to step down and lokpal bill has been made into dhokapal bill and is approved by the parliament. First event was long pending. In fact I feel our cms spend so much time in saving their seats that they hardly get any time to govern.  And 16000 crore rupees loss to the exchequer! This loss proves that our government is really rich. Well, if I lose one lakh rupee in gambling (OK I do not gamble ) , doesn't  it prove that I had 1 lakh rupee to start with. So if our government can lose thousands of crores for each scam, it must have had lot of money.  We are RICH!!! Second event is a cruel joke on all of us. We have a lokpal bill which does not include PM conduct and voting of MPs in parliment Higher judiciary CBI and CVC (central vigilance committe) will not come under lokpal Lokpal will 9 members out of which 5 are from government. I was sad to read  our PMji commenting on Advani saying that Advani thinks it is his birth right to be PM. We did not expect this from Manmohan Singh. He is an erudite, honest politician, very rare in Indian political system. He should not have  gone  to their level and made such comments. Be a Roman when you are in Rome is fine to some extent. But you don't have to "Be an Indian Politician when you are an Indian politician."

     Are we a democracy? Not at all. What is government going to do about it? Nothing except for some eyewash. Why do we need a government which can not protect good people, but instead always trying to save its own skin?    Leave government, what are we, citizens going to do about it? Nothing.        I really don't think, we citizens of Karnataka have fallen to such low levels. If we are at fault, we may not accept it, we may try to escape from consequences. But we will not cause others to suffer.    This government is doing exactly that. OK, OK, the cm may not be at fault. There are other ways of proving that than calling  a bandh, right? Go prove it legally. Why are you making us suffer?     One more thought. If someone else calls bandh, government is there to protect the citizens. If government calls the bandh, who will protect us?

Yesterday I read about Thakre junior caused Rohinson Mistry's book to be banned because there was a reference to Sena in the book. The boy is studying in St. Xavier's. He was not part of the team which met with President Obama. So he is saying teachers have selected only their favorite students for the team. TOI says it is poetic justice. Yes, it is.

    Such a nice way of acting democratic. We have the freedom to do as we wish. Is that what democracy is? At least our elected leaders think so. The TOI article said people are ashamed by the behaviour of Karnataka mlas on vote of confidence day. But why should we be ashamed? Just because these politicians are deplorable does not mean entire country is that way. Only reason we should feel embarrassed is because we elected them to rule us.      But I remember our lecturer saying "We get the government we deserve " Do we deserve these? And the ones like Kalmadi? Are they the real representatives of our country? Or people like Narayan Murthy or Sachin Tendulkar are?     The best part of Kalmadi episode is the guilty are not punished and never will be. He is not even removed from the ministership.    Amma, he hit me.    No, mom, he started first.     We moms hear it so frequently. But now you can hear it even in the assembly. Yeddi said that even Congress members are involved in illegal mining activity. And former two CMs have given mining permissions etc etc.

   Yesterday was a good day. Because it was a holiday. Thank you, all opposition leaders for providing us a holiday. Thank you also for being so much concerned about us, the common people who are being affected by price rise.      But there are some bad elements, who do not understand your troubles. But they try to malign you, by seeing you are calling a bandh for political reasons and are causing so much of inconvenience. Can't they face a little difficulty for the betterment of society. They never understand the true feeling of you people. They don't realize that you are fighting always on behalf of them and what ever you do, will be for their benefit.     I have a suggestion. To convince these people of your good intentions, you use a different approach. You call it "Shanta satyagraha". She was again in the limelight. Allegedly for saying that Prophet did not say burqa is compulsory. That caused riots in our karnataka and 2 deaths. Are these people not ashamed of themseleves? Do they want to convert our democracy into a country where the right to free speech is confiscated? Who knows, all this may be an attempt to cancel the extension of her visa in India. Let us not forget that her book "Lajja" attracted the ire of Bangladeshi fundamentalists because it depicted the torture on minority community there. That itself must have been reason enough for India, to accept her with open arms. Plase do visit her website to understand how we are making her life as hell. I opened around 16 windows of 16 different articles of Outlook india site. A habit I had cultivated prior to broadband era, when online time, not the amount of download was billed. One article which I found particularly interesting is about Urdu columnists in Pakistan who write without verifying any facts and write all kinds of conspiracy theories blaming US, India and Isreal. And the article also says that English versions of the same columns are saner and do not carry these lies. Is a similar thing happening to local language press and books in India. I take the example of a kannada book where it seems he has explained the muslim plunders obviously exaggerating the facts. He is supposed to have quoted historical dates etc. So people think these are facts. And gives them another reason to hate muslims. May be there is some truth in Alchemist, that if you wish something from all your heart, the circumstances will help you in achieving that. I did not achieve anything great. But my idea came true like this. Looking at the way people are glued to TV in all their free time, I was thinking this mass media can be used to achieve some good sense in people. Things like secularism. I was also thinking if one channel does it, people will just click the remote and go to next which shows a mindless soap. And channels being interested in viewership may not like that. And my wish is answered in the form if "phir mile sur" in Zoom Tv. Good. The Idiot box can be used to unIdiot people!!!. I am loving it.
