Side effects

I don't want to offend anyone here. I just want to share my opinions and experiences here. 

 In our town there was a little girl hardly 4 years old, who was given pencillin injection by a doctor without a test dose. The girl became mentally retarded. 

 And there was another instance where pencillin injection (she had severe abdominal pain due to monthly periods) caused the my friend to lose consciousness. But luckily nothing serious happened after that.

 Recently my son had tonsil infection. The doctor here in silicon city Bangalore, did not give anti biotic for 3 days. So the fever and pain took one week to heal instead of 4 days and my son had to miss college for a week.
I am not saying that people in other professions are always perfect. But a doctor needs to be better because our lives depend on him/her. And we know very little about their procedures so we completely believe them. 

 Regarding the medicine, how many doctors tell us what could be the side effects of the medicine and when to contact the doctor. We urban middle class can afford to consult the doctor again if we do not feel better or if there are any complications. This luxury is not possible for rural folk or working class people. For them visiting the doctor means one day of missing work and/or considerable amount of money spent for travel. 

Since doctors may not tell us willingly, we need to ask the doctors about the side effects, when to stop medicine and when to rush to hospital. And doctors SHOULD tell us, not condescending us that we are ignorant.

And of course our friend google is always there. If we suspect something, we can google the medicine and find more details about them.

Hair care and me ??

I delayed writing this post for I was not sure whether I am entitled to write this post. If I put my photo along, I should also add that I do not use Dove shampoo, so that it will serve as a warning to people , if they don't use a proper shampoo, their hair might also look like mine :-( :-( :-( Things (on my head) were not this bad always. I had long black and reasonably thick hair, nicely plaited, when I was a child. In fact I would be sitting on my plaits - they were so long. And to top it all, one of relatives used to say " you say you will be taller and your hair will say it will be longer" or something like that. We Hegdes from Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga districts of Karnataka belong to a brahmin sub sect called Havyaka Brahmins. We have some traditions of our own, a language of our own - which is slightly different from kannada.
