God and Satan had a huge fight about supremacy. They decided they will find out who is mightier using a coding competition as it was the "cool" thing, and as miracles, protecting or decimating were taken over by mortals.
They started typing furiously without looking left or right. Satan with a wicked grin on his face and God with an arrogant smirk on his face.
Hours passed and the challenge was reaching finale. And the onlookers - lesser gods (and lesser satans?) were sitting on edge, biting their nails.
"Dhom" suddenly there was a power cut. We are talking about pre- laptop era and UPS systems were affordable only to ultra rich. And God was not one.
So both systems blacked out. You could hear the shrieks of fans, here on earth.
In a few minutes the results were declared and God was announced as the winner.
Why?
Because God saves!
Why am I writing this stale joke now, when one does not have to save, as laptops have batteries and its users have tails - they carry the chargers of these machines wherever they go.
Because I lost some data. I being not God, had not saved my photos.
Yesterday, my phone started giving error messages telling me some process com.google.gaps has stopped. OK, what can I do? I can't debug it as I am sure this app is release version.
The error messages kept on popping non-stop. Some how I managed to catch a breath, I tried stopping apps I could, disabling the apps I should not have and clearing data of all of them.
And the error message vanished. So did all photos, which I had snapped with so much enthusiasm if not talent.
The situation was a new development even for me. Me and my laptop always try to format each other. But I had assumed that at least, mobile was my friend.
Et, tu, Brutus!
Hence forth, I will be smarter like God, and save all my data to laptop in multiple locations or publish all my photos in blogger :)
P.S. The original story had Jesus in place of God. "Jesus saves" was the title. But I took the liberty and changed it. For, I do not want to be sent to Pakistan. Nor to England.
