No coincidence

Today I argued with my family members - husband and parents about why I hate Modi. Two days back I wanted to talk in my office function about religious hatred. But did not. And now I came across a blogger Indian Homemaker who has explained why she hates BJP. Like her , even I clearly remember the days when there was no religious divide in small towns, no religious violence in southern states. So don't you see who is responsible for this divide and rule. These people gained enough votes with hate propaganda against muslims. Now they have started against christians. If they believe that conversion is crime, crime enough to burn the churches and people, then what about the conversion of party these politicians do with no other motive than sticking to power. Why don't these hindutva brigade burn the politicians who have converted to BJP recently.
India is a secular country. Every citizen has a right to practice any religion he wishes or not to practice any religion at all. Who are we to say to an individual not to convert. It is his wish. Now BJP and all others who are brainwashed by them talk about a book which blames Rama and Hindu religion. OK, so what again, it shows the greatness of our religion because we have given the liberty to the people to talk and argue about the Gods. If other religion feel our Gods are not good, let them say. If my neighbour says I am a bad person, do I go and hit him? Why is BJP talibaninising our country and why are we letting it happen?

Hair care and me ??

I delayed writing this post for I was not sure whether I am entitled to write this post. If I put my photo along, I should also add that I do not use Dove shampoo, so that it will serve as a warning to people , if they don't use a proper shampoo, their hair might also look like mine :-( :-( :-( Things (on my head) were not this bad always. I had long black and reasonably thick hair, nicely plaited, when I was a child. In fact I would be sitting on my plaits - they were so long. And to top it all, one of relatives used to say " you say you will be taller and your hair will say it will be longer" or something like that. (Now I have ended up 5.2 ft  and my hair also short sob....) Back then, how did I nourish my hair?I did not do much in fact. But mere paas maa thi. She would religiously oil my hair - everyday. We Hegdes from Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga districts of Karnataka belong to a brahmin sub sect called Havyaka Brahmins. We have some traditions of our own, a language of our own - which is slightly different from kannada. But I am not an authority on the subject, nor have I read any book on comparative analysis of Karnataka brahmin traditions.
