To work or not to work

When you want to write a blog - atleast a good blog you need a target. As in bali ka bakra. Why am I searching all over the world for a blog subject when mai hoon ha.

Today with my reference, I can tell you why it is not so bad to be a stay at home mom. I have been on and off jobs many times may be because I did not take jobs too seriously. You don't take anything seriously said mom. And always I felt the other side is greener which may not be true.
Let us start with what happens in the morning. In the morning now I can get up late at 7. But of course I have to get up 4.45, wake up son, feed him and send him to tution and school. After that I can again sleep and wake up at 7.
When I was working woman , I used to prepare breakfast, prepare lunch boxes, serve hot dosas and tea and then get ready and run. Now I prepare breakfast, prepare lunch boxes, serve hot dosas and tea and period. No more work. Even the preparation of breakfast is not so tedious because of the anticipation of freedom after I send all these people away for the day.
Earlier I used to sit in a corner infront of a computer whole day (and used to play writers blox and check mail alternatively) Now I can sit anywhere, anyway, wearing anything even a nightie (which I wear, everyday) and spend the whole day watching tv soaps. So many times.
Earlier at lunch time , I used to eat cold unfriendly chitranna with unfriendly colleagues talking and gossipping. Now I can eat hot food (Many days I don't heat the left over food. But I can if I want to) enjoying it with TV.
When it rains in the evening, earlier I used to drive at 20kmph, drenched, shivering, afraid that is my dress becoming transparent, let me stop and wear my jacket , and again shivering because the jacket is no match for Bangalore rain, again afraid that which of this water puddles is a pot hole and which is not. But now I can prepare a hot cup of tea, and enjoy the rain from far.
So I think I should my enjoy my freedom, instead of grumbling

Hair care and me ??

I delayed writing this post for I was not sure whether I am entitled to write this post. If I put my photo along, I should also add that I do not use Dove shampoo, so that it will serve as a warning to people , if they don't use a proper shampoo, their hair might also look like mine :-( :-( :-( Things (on my head) were not this bad always. I had long black and reasonably thick hair, nicely plaited, when I was a child. In fact I would be sitting on my plaits - they were so long. And to top it all, one of relatives used to say " you say you will be taller and your hair will say it will be longer" or something like that. (Now I have ended up 5.2 ft  and my hair also short sob....) Back then, how did I nourish my hair?I did not do much in fact. But mere paas maa thi. She would religiously oil my hair - everyday. But not soak my head in oil. She would just put half a teaspoon of oil to my head. Then brush my hair nicely and put 2 tight plaits before sending me to school. T...

Danuvettiddu

We Hegdes from Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga districts of Karnataka belong to a brahmin sub sect called Havyaka Brahmins. We have some traditions of our own, a language of our own - which is slightly different from kannada. But I am not an authority on the subject, nor have I read any book on comparative analysis of Karnataka brahmin traditions. And as most modern secular Hindus I find it more amusing to make fun of our traditions rather than celebrating them - may be because I do not understand it completely. I attended a marriage yesterday. So let us talk about few of rituals in this marriage ceremony. On the previous day of the marriage called Naandi - which means beginning of any good thing. The groom will wear a simple dress, and a wooden footwear (since we can't conjure up wooden paduka so easily, he will wear foot-wear made from dried skin of areca flower) and with a sack on his shoulder, will declare that  he will go to Kashi. Here he is saying, he wants to...
