Work from Home - Are they genuine?

You see many ads in newspapers and net regarding work from home and earn a lot. But how genuine are these ads?

Here are few pointers to check if they are genuine or not? Here are few pointers

  • If they are asking you to pay a deposit for the work , then they are just collecting money. Forget that work
  • If they have a website advertising such work, try to get reviews of that site from places like mouthshut. Or just google about that site and dig little deeper. Chances are you may get some reviews from disgruntled people who did not get paid.
  • If the work is from a person or a company, it is preferrable that they are in same town as you. And when talking to them over phone make sure that you ask their address. So that you can give them a call, if you are not paid.
  • Ask and get a clear picture of what are you typing and for which purpose. If you feel the work is not right, just leave it. You do not want to do any unethical work or illegal work - like sending spams to hundreds of people.
  • There are some sites known for good online works. Register in these sites and bid for the works. Even if the chances of getting the work are not very high, you do not have to spend anything, nor will you spend any time until you win the bid. Some of the sites are elance, getafreelancer, guru etc.
But at the end of the day, the chances are very slim. I did work twice. One was for a website which should look similar to another site.  I know not very ethical. And the contact person was in Delhi, I think.And after some 30 hours of work, the person kept on saying he will send money to my bank account, but I did not receive the money. Finally I gave up.
 The other work was writing a small piece of android code, again a hourly based work. This time the company was in Bangalore and I did have their phone number and postal address. So I did get paid by them.

But I know there are people who do online work on regular basis. May be they find the work, because they search instead of blogging like me :)

Hair care and me ??

I delayed writing this post for I was not sure whether I am entitled to write this post. If I put my photo along, I should also add that I do not use Dove shampoo, so that it will serve as a warning to people , if they don't use a proper shampoo, their hair might also look like mine :-( :-( :-( Things (on my head) were not this bad always. I had long black and reasonably thick hair, nicely plaited, when I was a child. In fact I would be sitting on my plaits - they were so long. And to top it all, one of relatives used to say " you say you will be taller and your hair will say it will be longer" or something like that. We Hegdes from Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga districts of Karnataka belong to a brahmin sub sect called Havyaka Brahmins. We have some traditions of our own, a language of our own - which is slightly different from kannada.
