Formatting the hard disk - part II

I had earlier written about my formatting interest here.

Since then I have used Ubuntu. Cooked dosas (rice flour pan cakes) on laptop. No, I did not. I could have. Started getting problems in Ubuntu. Tried installing windows again. Could not. Went to a repair shop, paid money and installed original windows from them.

Then life was almot smooth. I started my daily works with blogs, social networks and coding without much difficulties. But yesterday, mail  was very slow, wifi was showing connected to 3 different networks(!) and I tried to change some settings. Alas, things stopped working. I could not even open "My computers" and could not connect to net. I struggled a lot to avoid the formatting. But no. Nothing worked.

Hence today I formatted the disk. To my surprise there were no drivers for networking and graphics was ghastly. Not even ethernet driver was loaded and nor was it to be found in the original windows cd or the system recovery cd of HP.

OK, I being the smart one ended up installing most drivers and now the system is ready to blog. Here are the steps I followed. This is for future me of course
  • Install OS after backing up all your important files using windows cd (mine is windows 7 home basic)
  • If not able to find display, webcam and network drivers, visit your pc site - mine is hp
  • The site will have all these drivers to download. Of course download them on another pc and copy using pen drive. 
  • Download drivers - AMD display driver, Realtek  ethernet driver and intel wirelesss driver, and youcam webcam drivers.
  • Save them in a CD for future use :)
  • Install drivers
I still need to fine tune tuning. My typed letters are running away. But so far, so good.

I have not mentioned anything about installing your software. But that is child's play. Relatively.

Hair care and me ??

I delayed writing this post for I was not sure whether I am entitled to write this post. If I put my photo along, I should also add that I do not use Dove shampoo, so that it will serve as a warning to people , if they don't use a proper shampoo, their hair might also look like mine :-( :-( :-( Things (on my head) were not this bad always. I had long black and reasonably thick hair, nicely plaited, when I was a child. In fact I would be sitting on my plaits - they were so long. And to top it all, one of relatives used to say " you say you will be taller and your hair will say it will be longer" or something like that. We Hegdes from Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga districts of Karnataka belong to a brahmin sub sect called Havyaka Brahmins. We have some traditions of our own, a language of our own - which is slightly different from kannada.
