Omnipresent

Omnipresent - present everywhere

 What is one thing you see wherever you go. Towns, cities, or villages? Roads, homes, farms or any where?

  Did you just say mobile phone? How sacrilegious? You are supposed to say God!

 Did you say you don't see him. Exactly. Since you can't see him,  you don't know where he is and where he is not.

 So He is said to be omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent.  omni means all.

 Another word with omni is omnivorous. Omnivorous is the one who eats everything. Like a bored house wife. :).  

But seriously, this word is related to herbivorous- vegetarian and carnivorous - meat eating. And vora, I think means to consume. You have heard about a voracious reader, isn't it?

 Omniscient - one who has capacity of knowing everything. Like you and me. Given a google and a computer we can be omniscient. Almost.

 And scient is related to science.

 Omnipotent is one who can do anything. 

Now let us look at a paradox here. Can omnipotent God create a person/ another God, who can defeat him? If yes, God is not omnipotent - as he can not defeat this person. If not, he is not omnipotent- he has no power to create such a person. This is catch -22?

 Related word of potent is potential - he has real potential means he has capacity. And of course electrical engineering term - potential energy. Another related term is impotent.

 It gets really interesting to know a word and all related words, isn't it?

Hair care and me ??

I delayed writing this post for I was not sure whether I am entitled to write this post. If I put my photo along, I should also add that I do not use Dove shampoo, so that it will serve as a warning to people , if they don't use a proper shampoo, their hair might also look like mine :-( :-( :-( Things (on my head) were not this bad always. I had long black and reasonably thick hair, nicely plaited, when I was a child. In fact I would be sitting on my plaits - they were so long. And to top it all, one of relatives used to say " you say you will be taller and your hair will say it will be longer" or something like that. (Now I have ended up 5.2 ft  and my hair also short sob....) Back then, how did I nourish my hair?I did not do much in fact. But mere paas maa thi. She would religiously oil my hair - everyday. We Hegdes from Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga districts of Karnataka belong to a brahmin sub sect called Havyaka Brahmins. We have some traditions of our own, a language of our own - which is slightly different from kannada. But I am not an authority on the subject, nor have I read any book on comparative analysis of Karnataka brahmin traditions.
