JK

I thought I was ready for books like Jiddu Krishnamurthy. I watch Brahmakumari's awakening most days, I watch Avadeshanand's discourse many days. So may be I have become spiritual, I thought.

But the book "Wings of eagle" by JK was like "kabbinada kadale"  to me. The author keeps asking more and more questions. Until the lay readers like me are completely confused.

I tried the next thing which often helps me. Went to youtube videos. But no, that too did not help.

May be I am not yet ready for JK yet. Sister Shivani, Tiny buddha or even Beliefnet should be my food now.

And the face - why does he look so much tormented in the photos? Of course, this world is enough to bring any sensitive man to tears. But we expect a Guru to be beyond that stage. - having reached equanimity?

Now do you ask me who gave me the right to comment on great philosophers like him? But "Blogistan" is a free country, last I heard. (Until someone decides to knock on your door and shoot you between the eyes for questioning their beliefs)

But I completely agree with his quotes about religions like these (I follow anukuula vedanta)

“When you call yourself an Indian or a Muslim or a Christian or a European, or anything else, you are being violent. Do you see why it is violent? Because you are separating yourself from the rest of mankind. When you separate yourself by belief, by nationality, by tradition, it breeds violence. So a man who is seeking to understand violence does not belong to any country, to any religion, to any political party or partial system; he is concerned with the total understanding of mankind.”

Do you know what religion is? It is not the chant, it is not in the performance of puja, or any other ritual, it is not in the worship of tin gods or stone images, it is not in the temples and churches, it is not in the reading of the Bible or the Gita, it is not in the repeating of a sacred name or in the following of some other superstition invented by men. None of this is religion.
Religion is the feeling of goodness, that love which is like the river, living, moving everlastingly......

Edit : As always, I read one page, or few lines from a page and run to blog about it. The book is good. and is not as difficult as I first thought it to be. Hopefully, I will complete it.

Bharatha - 2. UrdhvaRoma

I wanted to write about Karna as my part 2 of Bharatha because he is the real tragic hero of MahaBharatha. But net is filled with writings about him. So let me write about little known son of Arjuna called Urdhvaroma. And I don't want to write as twisted tale but as I have heard it from my Yankatte (atte - aunt). Yankatte was my mother's aunt and she was widowed in childhood. She would spend some time in my granny's house and some time in her husband's house. She would tell us all beautiful stories. UrdhvaRoma was a son of Arjuna (I think. Or may be Bhima's son. I don't remember clearly. ) He was living in the forest. One day when he was practicing archery, Arjuna and Krishna were passing by. Krishna indicated Arjuna to hide and watch. This boy shot an arrow to a large tree. And all the leaves of the tree fell down except for 5 and a half leaves. Krishna and Arjuna came forward and asked him what was all this about. The boy told " After few years there wi
