I had originally planned to visit Ramanjaneya temple on Friday. But I had walked in the morning and I had climbed what seemed like 100 steps in metro stations. And I don't know what that bus stop is called. More importantly more steps.. kabhi nahi. So I visited dodda ganapathi temple instead.
Why Ramanjaneya temple? Am I a bhakt or bhakte of Anjaneya or Hanumantha? No. I am not. Though we have a huge selection to show our piety, I am not particular about any God. If I have to, I will just say as we mortals are unable to imagine nirakara rupa God, we give him/her aakara and pray to them.
OK, the reason for me wanting visit this temple is, we go in that road quite often. And each time I think, I need to go there, and climb the stairs and visit the temple. And today it materialized.
So today I planned ahead - which is unlike me. I skipped walking. I took my two wheeler instead of metro. But I started late from home and reached around half past 12 and the temple was closed.
But unlike other temples, this has a huge complex on a hill and there are stone benches all around where people of all ages sit and spend some time with nature.
On the exterior walls of the temple, there are statues of various Gods and Goddesses
There is a bird bath and some one has sprayed some grains, so there were plenty of pigeons.
You can see a huge statue of Rama hugging Anjaneya. And it had to be painted Gold :(
Earlier when I visited Rajarajeshwari temple I was repeatedly told not take photos. But today no one from the temple administration was around. So no one stopped me from taking pictures.
I even got a peek of the diety from within the grills
On the whole, this temple is worth a visit.
We had visited this temple way back when our son was around 8 years old. I remember this incidence because as we did not have change we could not pay for our slippers. In temples, you need to leave the slippers outside and there will be a person in charge of these slippers. You need to pay him 2 rupees per pair of slippers so that your slippers are shoes are not stolen. So we had not paid that man. And our son forced us to come next day, so that we can pay him his 6 rupees.
