I was supposed to have finished not only collecting questions, but writing solutions to all the questions by now. But I am no where near that.
I am supposed to worry about why does shell sort use insertion technique. Why not just swap the elements when they are out of order? But no, instead I am thinking what is happening around me? When does this saga which started withmy birth a dead animal going to end?
You don't know the story? If you do not know, it means you are not a resident of our 'hood and so probably you are not reading this post too.
One fine morning - it was a saturday July 30th, there was a terrible stench. When we went outside, we saw that there was a dead animal lying in the middle of empty site next to our house. How did it come there? Was it dead and then brought there? Or did a snake bite it? I am not sure.
So we did the only possible thing we could do. We called mahanagara palike and complained. Luckily enough they did come, they saw the carcass and gave us another number to call. After few hours we came to know that the owner of the animal lives near by and he has been informed. And he had suggested that it is difficult to remove the animal, but he can cover it with truck load of mud.
And after that, instead of waiting to see how the drama unfolds, we went out. There was no one in our house. When we returned at around 2 pm in the afternoon, the issue had taken a different form. The dead animal had magically woken up and moved very close to our compound wall, then was dead again. And a truck load of mix of broken bricks, mud etc was piled on that.
That is the better part. The worse part was few stone slabs which were covering storm water drain in that empty site were broken and were inside the drain. We came to know that the tractor which came with mud was trying to cross that drain and the slabs broke.
We don't know what exactly happened. But even today, the dead animal has not been removed from that place. And the drain is wide open next to our house. Waiting to collect all garbage and create a block and flood some where else. And you wonder why water seeps into the homes of people when ever there is a rain in Bangalore.
I went to BBMP office after 3-4 days and tried giving a complaint about the dead animal. I was made to go from one department to another and came back without giving the written complaint.
So why am I thinking about that now? It goes on to show that it is very difficult to live in 'hoods where people are willing to do anything to make others' life miserable.
Yesterday the corporator had come to visit and see. Along with him came a horde of nagar palike workers, busily cleaning the streets. The entire neighborhood was there to tell him their problems.
Goes on to show that your peace of mind is many times not an internal process.

Today, while I was at work, my sister stole my apple ipad and tested to
ReplyDeletesee if it can survive a 40 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now
destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is completely off topic but I had to
share it with someone!
