Better not bitter learning

How do you bring up great kids who excel in whatever they do. Who will be successful and more importantly who will be happy?

I am no psychologist. And I don't think I understand kids well. But my feelings are as follows.

First of all we need to make learning as a fun activity. Compare a toddler who learns to walk, to talk and to run around the house to a child who learns to read and write and do math in school. The toddlers are exuberant about their learning, they cherish their achievement and they enjoy this entire process of learning, Have you ever seen a baby crying or sulking because he is not able to tell his first words? Then why is school learning such a hated activity?

The point is  to understand how to make learning fun again so that child thinks he is playing again. Here technology can come to assistance. Some animation films, some slides can be used to assist each class in the school. I have seen some math learning cds back in 2000's and I was enchanted by it. And kids like to do rather than just watch. So a teacher  can teach a concept and then let the child sit on a computer (or a terminal ) and solve some puzzles based on that. History teaching can be done with some stories with lot of images in a video. Geography can be taught with animated maps and puzzles.

Also after the children learn basic skills in every subject, his talents and his passions can be analysed and he must be allowed to continue in that direction.

This could be better than rote learning and cramming for the exam and very tragic incident like stabbing of the teacher. But parents may worry that  if their children do not work hard and study only to be an engineer or doctor, how can they become successful. But if a kid follows his/her dream or passion with all the support from parents and education system, he/she will surely be successful.

Hair care and me ??

I delayed writing this post for I was not sure whether I am entitled to write this post. If I put my photo along, I should also add that I do not use Dove shampoo, so that it will serve as a warning to people , if they don't use a proper shampoo, their hair might also look like mine :-( :-( :-( Things (on my head) were not this bad always. I had long black and reasonably thick hair, nicely plaited, when I was a child. In fact I would be sitting on my plaits - they were so long. And to top it all, one of relatives used to say " you say you will be taller and your hair will say it will be longer" or something like that. (Now I have ended up 5.2 ft  and my hair also short sob....) Back then, how did I nourish my hair?I did not do much in fact. But mere paas maa thi. She would religiously oil my hair - everyday. But not soak my head in oil. She would just put half a teaspoon of oil to my head. Then brush my hair nicely and put 2 tight plaits before sending me to school. T
