Cute women vs not so cute women

Women are beautiful people to be around.

They look cute when they smile at you. Especially neighbor's wives and girls walking on the street. They look cute when you make a innuendo and they are embarrassed, but are too scared to show their anger because you are their boss. They look cute when you yell at them at their mistakes - well you show them it is their mistake, because it can never be your mistake, as you are the boss, and they are suppressing the tears which are welling up in their eyes. They look cute when they are begging you for one day leave as their child is sick and you are trying to ignore their request, but still they hover around and try to  put on a smile which in fact looks like they are crying. They look cute when you and your colleagues try to make a indecent joke at their expense and they pretend not to hear it but with very red face.

But why don't they look cute when they serve you food at home, putting so much effort and thought and time into that food? And why do they look so unattractive when they ask you for money - an amount you spend easily when you are with your friends, for some grocery or an item for your child's school work.

Will a bird in the wild go hungry just because one fruit tree dries up? If one flower withers, will not the bee get any flowers? If one haughty king is miserly, will there be no patrons (of poetry) on this earth?

Learning from wise men, reading from good books, observing others  work and learning from good company, these are the ways a man becomes omni-scient (sarvajna - one who knows everything). Just like many streams join together to make an ocean.

Shantam papam

I plucked some leaves from my kitchen garden for (cooking) making tambuli in the evening. Imagine, I who can not read small letters, even in broad daylight, plucked some dodda patre leaves in the dark kitchen garden. I tried dry roasting them with coriander leaves. Suddenly I saw something whitish. A worm? What sin I was about to commit? I was about to feed non-veg, that too a worm, to two pious brahmins. Threw out the whole thing. Should I wear glasses even when I am cooking?
I hate these chalis. So never wear them. It hurts my nose. I go to a super market. I read a box of something to buy. I can not read its price. I ask the sales boy/girl, what is the price. They will think that I am illiterate. But see, I can't help it. Can't these people print atleast prices in large print for forty plus people.
After a long time today, I tried reading my daily horoscope from newspaper. Could not read anything. At this exponential decay rate, the day is not far when my vision would be zer…

Bharatha - 2. UrdhvaRoma

I wanted to write about Karna as my part 2 of Bharatha because he is the real tragic hero of MahaBharatha. But net is filled with writings about him. So let me write about little known son of Arjuna called Urdhvaroma. And I don't want to write as twisted tale but as I have heard it from my Yankatte (atte - aunt). Yankatte was my mother's aunt and she was widowed in childhood. She would spend some time in my granny's house and some time in her husband's house. She would tell us all beautiful stories.

UrdhvaRoma was a son of Arjuna (I think. Or may be Bhima's son. I don't remember clearly. ) He was living in the forest. One day when he was practicing archery, Arjuna and Krishna were passing by. Krishna indicated Arjuna to hide and watch. This boy shot an arrow to a large tree. And all the leaves of the tree fell down except for 5 and a half leaves. Krishna and Arjuna came forward and asked him what was all this about. The boy told " After few years there wi…
