Nishkama Karma

I was trying really hard to improve the appearance and usability of my kannada keyboard. I tried using 3 screens instead of 2. Then I tried popup screen for diacritics (aakara, ikara etc). I tried different background. I tried looking into some source code to see if I can change background of special characters.

Yesterday I was in for a shock. I realized many phones like non-samsung phones will not render the language properly. If I type shabda, they will display
ಶಬ್ ದ . And if I type, shale, they display ಶ ಾ ಲ ೆ

Such a disappointment. Here I was dreaming about buying a car by placing this app as paid app. I could hardly buy a jatre car with this situation.

Then something in the upper floor where a brain must reside told me - MOVE ON. Yes, I should just finish this with some features and move on to next app.

So much for nishkama karma

Note : In Bhagawatgita, Lord Krishna told us " Karmanyeva adhikaraste, ma phalesh kadachana". So we are supposed to do our work, without any desire for its fruit.  viz  Nishkama Karma - work without any desire.

Hair care and me ??

I delayed writing this post for I was not sure whether I am entitled to write this post. If I put my photo along, I should also add that I do not use Dove shampoo, so that it will serve as a warning to people , if they don't use a proper shampoo, their hair might also look like mine :-( :-( :-( Things (on my head) were not this bad always. I had long black and reasonably thick hair, nicely plaited, when I was a child. In fact I would be sitting on my plaits - they were so long. And to top it all, one of relatives used to say " you say you will be taller and your hair will say it will be longer" or something like that. (Now I have ended up 5.2 ft  and my hair also short sob....) Back then, how did I nourish my hair?I did not do much in fact. But mere paas maa thi. She would religiously oil my hair - everyday. We Hegdes from Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga districts of Karnataka belong to a brahmin sub sect called Havyaka Brahmins. We have some traditions of our own, a language of our own - which is slightly different from kannada. But I am not an authority on the subject, nor have I read any book on comparative analysis of Karnataka brahmin traditions.
