What I liked about "India's daughter"

First of all, I must thank Arnab Goswami. If not for his way of conducting the debate about why the documentary should be banned, and his usual style of not letting others complete their statements, I would not have watched the documentary in youtube.

The documentary shows a poor couple from village, who sell their land to fulfill their daughter's dream of becoming a doctor. That is a great thing in our country, where most parents if at all they educate their daughters, they educate only for finding a good husband for them.

It also shows the Nirbhaya who wants to study and help the people of their village.

At the same time, it shows the convicts who feel that, it is girl's fault for going out in the evening, that too with her male friend. If you blame their background and lack of education for such a warped opinion about women, their lawyer has similar opinion. His now famous statement that " he will burn his daughter or sister if they have affair before marriage" is outrageous.

I feel that all Indian men and women must watch this documentary to understand that we are not much better than Taliban in our mindset about women.

Hair care and me ??

I delayed writing this post for I was not sure whether I am entitled to write this post. If I put my photo along, I should also add that I do not use Dove shampoo, so that it will serve as a warning to people , if they don't use a proper shampoo, their hair might also look like mine :-( :-( :-( Things (on my head) were not this bad always. I had long black and reasonably thick hair, nicely plaited, when I was a child. In fact I would be sitting on my plaits - they were so long. And to top it all, one of relatives used to say " you say you will be taller and your hair will say it will be longer" or something like that. (Now I have ended up 5.2 ft  and my hair also short sob....) Back then, how did I nourish my hair?I did not do much in fact. But mere paas maa thi. She would religiously oil my hair - everyday. We Hegdes from Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga districts of Karnataka belong to a brahmin sub sect called Havyaka Brahmins. We have some traditions of our own, a language of our own - which is slightly different from kannada.
