How true!!  If there is any true love or selfless love in this world, it is the love of the parents for their child. To some extent, the love showered to a son may have some expectations. That he may look after them in their old age. But a parent brings up a daughter and sends her to her in laws decorated with all jewellery. What does he expect in return? Just that let his child live happily.
Similar to this act, we must also think that any good work done by us is the reward - that is what Dr D.V.G. says. But is it so easy?
But again Lord Krishna says "कर्मन्येवा अधिकारास्ते माँ फलेषु कदाचना" You do your karma and do not think about the fruits of your work. Well, my father used to say " if you help someone, the same person may not help you back. But some body else will surely come to your help when you are in need. The help certainly comes back to you". I don't know about that. But I feel I have to help people when I can because I have received help from so many people.
And again, let us talk about the purpose of doing the work. Many years back, we were in Muscat and my friend Bhargavi was learning Java in NIIT. She helped me and both of us learnt and it was fun. ( I was  jobless stay at home mom even then). But I felt many times and told her also "why am i learning and what is the purpose of all this?" But when we came back from Muscat, I learned C and other things and got some job for some time. So my learning or more importantly my work paid back, eventually if not immediately.
This may sound strange coming from the pen of atheist - even if she is so.... confused. HE keeps some kind of account  and gives us back some time when HE feels it is the right time. What say?

Bharatha - 2. UrdhvaRoma

I wanted to write about Karna as my part 2 of Bharatha because he is the real tragic hero of MahaBharatha. But net is filled with writings about him. So let me write about little known son of Arjuna called Urdhvaroma. And I don't want to write as twisted tale but as I have heard it from my Yankatte (atte - aunt). Yankatte was my mother's aunt and she was widowed in childhood. She would spend some time in my granny's house and some time in her husband's house. She would tell us all beautiful stories. UrdhvaRoma was a son of Arjuna (I think. Or may be Bhima's son. I don't remember clearly. ) He was living in the forest. One day when he was practicing archery, Arjuna and Krishna were passing by. Krishna indicated Arjuna to hide and watch. This boy shot an arrow to a large tree. And all the leaves of the tree fell down except for 5 and a half leaves. Krishna and Arjuna came forward and asked him what was all this about. The boy told " After few years there wi
