Perpetually Perplexed

No, I know this solution may not be possible for unfair sex (men) or women whose spouses are not earning. But some kid from MIT or IITs can invent a technology to convert marital bickering into energy. You did not understand. Let me explain. When you have argument with your spouse , you produce sound whose decibel level is quite good. Sound is a form of energy. And though energy can not be created, one form of energy can be transformed into another form. So some machine which converts this sound into electrical energy will help a lot. You come home, yell at your wife/husband, she/he will will shout back at you and this will definitely go on for quite some time. All this while the aforesaid machine is silently getting charged with electrical energy. You finish your fight and go to sleep. Morning your machine is all charged ready to be packed in your vehicle and drive it. If you and/or your spouse snore at night that is even better. Please remember, I have a patent over the idea.

First of all we are all relieved that you have broken your fast. We were worried.  But most importantly thank you immensely for helping us get the respect we deserve as citizens of this country. I love Reynolds pen. Not because it is a brand used by celebrities. Not even because you can flaunt it saying you paid 1 k for it. I love it for the opposite reason, it is just six rupees. Yeah, that is correct. You get a pen for just 6 rupees. That too at times, when people rarely get to transact in denominations less than 100. And it does write well. And why would I buy an expensive pen. I rarely write using pen. Now a days, there are so many mediums which do not require you to use a pen. You can write in notepad (I am talking of notepad application in windows machine). You can write as a memo in your mobile. Most important of all you can write on a hand free device, not only when you are driving, but also when you cleaning the kitchen or cooking chapatis (more relevant to us SAHMs) which sadly has a poor memory and it keeps getting worse. Since last few days TV channels are saying Anna movement is just a middle class movement. What is wrong with being middle class person? Middle class people do not get any freebies from the government and they can not be bought. But they will pay large percent of taxes. The vote bank people do not have enough to pay taxes. And rich people will always evade taxes. So a middle class person pays his hard earned money to the state, is always ignored by the government and is scorned at, as being done now. One of the audience, a youth , went to the extent of saying "middle class go to private schools, private colleges, work in private companies and their only encounter with government is when paying bribes. Why am I sending my kid to private school and college? Because I want some good education for him. As I have written earlier,  even my maid does not send her daughter to government school. As I mentioned earlier, whenever I watch discussions in news channels, I physically want to go inside the TV and bash many of them. But alas, technology has not reached that level yet nor do I have any magical powers. (Good for TV show anchors. ) Yesterday Karan went on out shouting others when they tried to bring the positive aspects of Anna's movement. One of the panelists could not bear it any longer when Karan tried to compare Anna with Hitler just because Kiran Bedi told India is Anna and Anna is India. He said some of the media persons are government spokespersons and they are looking for post retirement benefits. The much embarrassed Karan tried to save his face by asking are you calling me a government spokespersons. Ha, that was the moment which really made my day.

I do not very well all these political science terms. I thought democracy is rule of people. People elect their representatives and these representatives rule the nation on behalf the people who voted them. But I hear  every day people saying that Anna Hazare is disrupting the democratic process. If a person protests peacefully, then how does that disrupt democratic process.  Or is my knowledge of the term democracy wrong? Does the term mean, that people who sit in parliment/legislative assemblies rule. Period. So they have right to everything and common man has right to almost nothing. Is this how it is? When I  watch the discussions on the television channels regarding Anna Hazare's fast everyday, I feel enraged so much so that I want to murder these anchors.  I can understand political parties opposing Jan Lokpal bill. We are a very strong nation with a great law enforcement body. We may not be able to nab the terrorists. We may not be able to catch naxals. We may not even catch petty thieves. But we can certainly catch and arrest an old man who wants to protest by fasting. He is corrupt. His bill is draconian. And his arguments are so irrational. He says we need a stronger body to stop corruption. Where is corruption in our country? All these scams you hear are hideous designs by opposition parties to malign us. 

There is something really pathetic about the situation of women being harassed by their husbands. These women have left behind their parents and family. They adjust themselves to the new surroundings and start taking care of the household and the family. They toil day and night for husband and children. Only to realize that he thinks and treats her as a cook and maid. And this conditions prevails in at least 50% of Indian households. At least in older generations.  These women are exploited because they have nowhere else to go.  Even though parents may sympathize with them, they will advice her to adjust to husband. Starting from maids to women of richest households, all are facing the same problem.  The method of ill treatment may vary. In lower classes, husbands drink, beat their wives and snatch their money. Wives work as domestic helps in many houses, and with the money earned, run the household and educate the children. In richer houses, men scold, insult and in some cases hit

Dear Bangaloreans. Let us all commit some crime now. And get caught. Because in prison, we can get LCD tv in our rooms, 24 hour hot water and home cooked food.  And for our spiritual well being, we also get prasad from various temples. Well that is how some people are being treated in prison.  May be we too get same treatment. 

I have to change 52+52 icons using gimp now. And for the third time. First time, I made the icons with transparent background and white letters. Then I realized it is not really looking cool. So I changed the icons to white background with rounded corners and some buttonish look what is it called, bevel. Now I am seeing that if I rotate the phone, the icons are looking as if somebody has pasted white something on grey buttons. So I have to make the icons again with white and transparent.  Uh, I hate GIMP and I hate my boss. She did not ask me to take the back up (For those of you who do not yet know, my boss is a middle aged lady - yeah me)

In today's TOI Jug Surayya has written a piece on how America's udhar will have effect on all of us. But what about our own udhar. You will get calls from various banks offering you loans so frequently. It is as if they will be very sad, if you do not take loan from them. Then if you do not pay back the loan, the same bank will send goons to your house. Banks are not the only ones to blame. There is also this new consumerism. We see a new gadget in our friend's/colleague's/relative's house. We want it. If we do not have LCD tv/micro wave/air conditioner/washing machine/sedan car, what will people say? They will say we are so poor/cheap/canjoos. So we have to buy that gadget. It does not matter, if we have to use emi or bank loan or some other loan. Earlier I think this was called peer pressure and was a problem with kids and teenagers. Now everyone is affected by it. So what we do. We take udhar and buy this thing, buy that thing and we are having party. But one

Why do women wear clothes with long materials like dupatta or pallu ? Because if there is sudden rain, they can wrap the children's head in them. No I am not joking, I have done it in rain and in cold. Yesterday I saw a lady carrying a child and wrapping the child's upper body in her dupatta. And few feet behind her there was another lady walking with two children and holding her dupatta over their heads. And this mother instinct is not limited to humans alone. Mammals, birds all care for their young ones. Well the saying that " Since God can not be everywhere, he sent mother" may not be an exaggeration after all!
