Interest - formatting the c drive

I must add in my facebook interests formatting the hard disk and installing the OS. Not that anybody cares. I have just 10-15 friends, most of them are part of extended family. Nobody writes on my wall, no messages. Anyways.

I have bought my laptop almost a year ago. And so far I might have used system recovery, factory installation, restore to a previous date etc. around 15 times. So much so that, before the help line could explain, I know all the steps and I can give them help I think. In fact yesterday, when I was trying to fix an error, they could just suggest try all the recovery steps again.

It all started with system update. Windows 7 pages told that, to imtprove the security, you should install latest windows update. I tried doing it for the first and only time. But after update, the windows would restart. Again and again and again. So I lost the nice game which would have made me another Steve Jobs or at least Zuckenberg I had developed almost 60%. Only thing which is left is the development version of the game in my mobile. But, I am not the one to cry over few spilled milk. I tried my best to recover the contents, then gave up and decided to recover the windows 7 os. But recovery was not successful unlike previous 15 times and I called help line.

 But me, the smart one found the problem was some program called runonce, deleted the program, and could go to windows. But still the hard disk was showing 75GB instead of 450. And I called them again, 5th time during the day, and they could not help. And the recovery cd would be stalled at 77%.

So I switched off and decided to carry the laptop to service center today. Then just out of curiosity, without any hope, I tried installing ubuntu. And voila, here I am with nice looking ubuntu wall paper and typing away with firefox.

So as my parents would say, Aguvadella olleyadaykke. And whatever difficulty you face in life, turn it around and make it into a blog.

Hair care and me ??

I delayed writing this post for I was not sure whether I am entitled to write this post. If I put my photo along, I should also add that I do not use Dove shampoo, so that it will serve as a warning to people , if they don't use a proper shampoo, their hair might also look like mine :-( :-( :-( Things (on my head) were not this bad always. I had long black and reasonably thick hair, nicely plaited, when I was a child. In fact I would be sitting on my plaits - they were so long. And to top it all, one of relatives used to say " you say you will be taller and your hair will say it will be longer" or something like that. We Hegdes from Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga districts of Karnataka belong to a brahmin sub sect called Havyaka Brahmins. We have some traditions of our own, a language of our own - which is slightly different from kannada.
