I had explained to you how I formatted the hard disk and installed ubuntu. But i have not yet started coding my revolutionary android projects yet. Because I do not have the tools yet.
I tried downloading eclipse, android-sdk and jdk which are only three things needed to start android program development. So far no success. Of course the files are huge. And my wifi some how is slow. Add to that, some more problems. The moment I start downloading my maid will arrive and I shouldwatch over assist her. Then my son would want his coffee or tea. Then some other work comes up.
And I can not leave the wifi and download on. It is unthinkable. For the paranoid me.
And then Packed to the Rafters comes up. That is the latest Star world serial I have been watching instead of Greys anatomy. and some time inspite of it. I like Rachel, her mother Julie, her brothers Ben and Nathan and their respective spouses/boyfriends/girlfriends and their grand dad.
So no wonder, even after 5 days I have still not started working on android coding.
And the download speed will be 9 or even 6 kbps. I thought I have unnecessary services including bluetooth service. I tried stopping them. Then I read somewhere that if you can not stop them, then make them useless that is remove the execute permission for them. That is the beauty of linux. In Linux OS, if you just give chmod -x to a program, it can not get executed at all. So in a frenzy I kept on giving chmod -x to many files, too many as I realized later.
Next day I log in, I can not see, logout option, shutdown option, icons for most of the files and also the beautiful Linux desktop has become pre windows, ugly dos screen.
So the smart and crafty me takes over and creates another user and start using it. OK, things look alright, until I realize that I can not sudo for this new user. sudo is a command which gives temporary root permission to this user.
Well another day and bit more calm thinking later I gave some files +x permission and got back my desktop. So much for my mastery over linux.
Why don't I post this in my C blog or better still create an exclusive linux blog and post in it? I have a tiny bit of conscience left in me still , so I am not posting my R and D which i do not understand completely as expert advice.
