No, no, Pranobda did not tell us about this tax (as far as I have read). Nor did anyone else in the government. Well, you are not gullible enough to believe that an Indian government will bring such a tax!
But I strongly recommend this tax to be levied immediately for the benefits of our country and its economy.
Well it works like this. In any bribe situation, everyone from chaparasi to mantriji (only if he is involved. I am not the one to point fingers) who has received the bribe, will pay 2% of the amount they have received as the c tax to the government. And this tax is imposed for each such transaction. This 2 Rs out of 100 is not at all a large amount for the tax-payer. But it will add up to a considerable amount of revenue to the country. You do not think so? Let us try to collect some numbers from internet.
Look at one simple example, according to Central Vigilance Commission, the CWG scam itself had misappropriation amount upto Rs.8000 crores. How many zeroes go there?
Let us see. If per day the total amount of bribe transaction is 1 lakh in the state of Karnataka (it will be much more. Look at this interesting article ) , and there are how many states, let me ask mom/let me ask google. Wikipedia when googled tells us that there are 28 states and G union territories in India. So 1 X 35 X 365 is 12,775 lakhs per year. 2% of that is 255 lakhs is 2.55 crores. But as I told you, the actual amount will be much, much more.
This new revenue generated can be used for education of our children. For opening new schools!Which teach how to take bribes?
You can not fight corruption. At least let us try to get something out of it. As my mom would have put it "Ketta adigeya attu undavane jana" ( A cook who modifies the spoilt meal into good mean is the smart one )
